Jan Schildknecht

When Jan isn’t giving architectural tours, he issuing building permits as a civil servant in the Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg urban development office. Before that he was a consultant at the Federal Ministry of Construction and project controller at the Federal Office for Building and Regional Planning. He lives in the Hansaviertel with buildings by Walter Gropius and Alvar Aalto close by – and it is precisely here where he knows every curb that he most likes to give guided tours. To Jan, a particularly exciting example of contemporary architecture is the Futurium in Europacity. With this project, after years of creative monotony a young Berlin architectural firm succeeded in bringing a fresh breeze to the area and implementing new, avant-garde architecture.
