Building Utopia? Mies and more

Berlin’s cultural landmarks

Neue Nationalgalerie, Berlin Philharmonic and the State Library. What makes them individual and diverse landmarks? On the tour, you will learn all about the renowned cultural projects of the post-war period and take a look at the future of the ensemble. While berlin modern, a new museum by Herzog & de Meuron is currently being built at the heart of the ensemble, a lot is also happening with the existing buildings: Mies van der Rohe’s final project – the Neue Nationalgalerie – is now open to the public again after an excellent refurbishment and the Staatsbibliothek is also being reorganised. Starting from urban utopias, organic architecture and the debate about a barn, you will experience the architecture of the most important cultural buildings of the post-war period and how they are being brought into the future.
