IN PROGRESS: A new house for the Bauhaus

New architectural tour: What’s happening at the Bauhaus-Archiv

A new Bauhaus archive is being built – experience this process first-hand. Bauhaus director Walter Gropius originally planned the house with the characteristic shed roofs. The building at the Landwehrkanal has been used as a museum and archive building for four decades. The Berlin architectural firm Staab Architekten won the competition to extend the museum and is currently realising its design: the striking glass tower and the spacious underground museum areas with an interior courtyard are being connected to the building from the 1970s. How can architects take on the heritage of the Bauhaus and still build in a contemporary way? Learn all about the background of the project with a view from the infocenter the bauhaus view over the construction site.
