The new Cultural Forum and Potsdamer Platz

Once the largest inner-city construction site in Europe, Potsdamer Platz attracted hundreds of thousands of visitors 25 years ago. Today, the Urban Entertainment Center is undergoing change, investors have sold the site and the buildings are populated by co-working spaces and young international digital nomads. The buildings by Renzo Piano and Helmut Jahn have become more open and show their potential for future use. In the immediate vicinity are outstanding cultural institutions such as the Berlin Philharmonic, Hans Scharoun’s State Library and Mies van der Rohe’s New National Gallery. The Cultural Forum is set to expand in the future: the renowned Swiss architectural firm Herzog & de Meuron is planning – not without controversy – the Museum of the 20th Century.
