Science and Research

Berlin has made a name for itself in the ranks of science and research hubs. Approximately 200,000 people from all over the world study, teach and research at a large number of new colleges and universities, technology parks, research facilities, laboratories and business incubators. New campus libraries of Freie Universität or the growing faculties of Humboldt Universität in the successful Science Park Adlershof create innovative buildings and invite visitors to take architectural forays into the world of laboratories, lecture halls and libraries.
A pioneering building is the “Amoeba” by sauerbruch hutton, which caused a sensation with its coloured double facade.
