Richard Woditsch

When Richard isn’t leading architectural tours, he teaches architectural theory and design at the Technical University of Nuremberg. He is particularly interested in the question of how we can build in a climate-friendly way in the future and manage our architectural heritage responsibly. Richard thinks about architecture not only as a designed object, but as an expression of our society’s ideas about how we want to live. He is particularly fascinated by buildings that tell stories—about the era in which they were built, about political and social changes, and about the hopes that were once placed in them. It is precisely this perspective that he aims to bring to his tours. He especially enjoys leading tours of Brutalist buildings, which vividly illustrate the upheavals Berlin experienced in the 20th century. It’s important to him that his tours be more than just the presentation of facts—ideally, everyone will walk through the city with a new perspective afterward.
