North of Berlin’s main railway station and in the immediate vicinity of the parliamentary district, a new innercity neigbourhood is currently being built on an area of approx. 40 hectares, which is to feature the typical “Berlin mix” of residential, office and commercial space. Flagships of the Art Campus behind the Hamburger Bahnhof are the Tour Total highrise (Barkow Leibinger), the 50 Hertz headquarters (Love Architecture / kadawittfeld) and the Futurium (Richter Musikowski).
With the conversion of the Humboldthafen harbour area and the construction of a new pedestrian and cyclist promenade, a high quality urban space is being created along the Spandauer shipping channel.
