The New Museum Island

The redevelopment of the UNESCO World Cultural Heritage Site Museum Island according to the master plan by David Chipperfield is the largest inner city project in Berlin since the opening of Potsdamer Platz.
The reopening of the New Museum and the construction of a new central entrance building, the James Simon Gallery, complete the war-damaged ensemble and point the way to a modern museum landscape in the 21st century.
This tour includes both a look at the urban environment with the rebuilding of the war-damaged Berlin Palace (Humboldt Forum) opposite the Altes Museum, as well as an interior tour of the new entrance building James Simon Gallery, parts of the underground archaeological promenade and core rooms of David Chipperfield’s multi-award-winning restoration of the New Museum.
